Choosing your word

Oh boy this is going to be fun fun fun! I was inspired by Lil and Dia (visit their blogs to see what they picked). to create my word of the year. Instead of a resolution (which I despise) I am going to choose one word that will empower me through 2009 (I am actually going to get a head start and begin using this word today!).

My word for 2009 (drum roll please…….) is deserving. Ta! Da! This should not come as a surprise… I am so excited about this. Words are magic…they can transform our lives. So I suggest you go over to Christine Kane’s blog and choose your word for 2009…but come back here and tell the world what you chose! Use this word to empower and uplift your spirit. And together we will celebrate!
Have a wonderful weekend! See you Monday!
P.S. stop by seasonal happiness for some holiday cheer!

I chose my word when I made my collage for the year and my word is Abundance. I so agree with you about the power of words that is why I love to write so much. It is like weaving a spell of magic or me-hem and everyday we get to choose. Have a wonderful and much DESERVED weekend!
    Peace~

Yes indeed. When I was reading your post, a word jumped out from my head, loud and clear, and that word is “Magic”. :) I will be posting on that tomorrow I believe :)

I second Dawn’s wish for you to have a much DESERVED weekend. :)

I’m so excited about this, because I think it’s an excellent idea! My word for 2009 is Courageous – because for years I’ve wanted to speak to children with disabilities and use my life to show them we can do anything, but I’d talk myself out of it each time.

    That ends with 2008!!!

I have a wonderful life and so many good things have happened to me. From working hard I received a large sum of money and was able to do some things that I had not been able to do before such as travel, and buy jewelry, which I love. My friends would say “you deserve this” and I would say “many people deserve what I have but they don’t get it” so I didn’t feel that I deserved it. Then a very hurtful, tragic event happened to me and I was so angry and I said “I did not deserve it”. Now I am going to enjoy the good things that happen to me and embrace them and say “Yes I deserve it!!”

What a lovely idea. My cousin and I once picked a motto to live by – we decided on, “This too will pass” – and believe me, we needed it for that year! (Katrina, need I say more?) But a word.. hmmm…. I’d have to say ~ Joy. It’s not as easy as it seems, sometimes you have to search for it!

    My word is CLARITY.

Looking back on one of my 5×5 photos, you may know what I am referring to.

I am going to give that to myself. From that will follow much fulfillment and serenity, which is why I didn’t choose those words. They will be a natural result.

Such a wonderful idea – one word to define your intent for the new year. I’m playing with three words at the moment: ‘clarity’..’connect’…’presence’.
    Thank you for your inspiration.

    What an excellent idea Caroline.

I know the word that I need desperately, need to be empowered by it,……BALANCE!

Do I ever need balance in my life.
I would like to leave my unbalanced life behind in 2008.

Wow and having a head start on 2009, how good it that!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and a very happy birthday on 20th, which is already today here in Australia.

    Take care always
    Peggy

I couldn’t choose just one (tehee) so I’ve gone for PEACE and LOVE in 2009.

Oh Caroline! I am an avid fan of christine kane and have been struggling with picking a word for weeks now.
I have so many words – I love words anyways – and like christine warns, I have the propensity to think “I”m too messed up to just pick ONE word!”
your post got me worrying about this again, and so I listed the possibilities on a piece of paper, which is now a mess of words
looking at it, the answer became clear …
    Clarity
Thanks for the kick in the pants.

Did someone say it was your birthday Sat? Happy Birthday sweet one.

What a nice idea. I don’t so much love New Year’s resolutions either. I think I’ll go do this, and then I’ll be back!

Again…I love your blog so much…when your page opens, it’s like a breath of fresh air.

Okay, Caroline. I’m back. I have chosen the word RELEASE.

I know that there are some things in my mind and heart and soul that I need to release, let go of, and get over. Once and for all.

    I will RELEASE this year.

Good Saturday morning to you Caroline.

I’ve been by your blog twice so far, but it feels really really good here.

The energy is uplifting, and the appearance is a pleasure to look at :)

I think my word for 2009 shall be ‘compassionate awareness’ and ‘joy’ (i’d like two :) .

Merry Christmas to you, Caroline – and thank you for the gift you give with your blog and the thoughts/feelings it inspires.

    Genuinely,
    Loving Annie

I am choosing to keep the word Abundance for 2009. Having started my blog in mid 2008, I am almost to 100 posts..It has served me well. It is a reminder to me when I post, when I comment and when I go throughout my day. I have received abundance from so many this year, including you and your wonderful blogs and the people who read your blogs! I do love so many of the words on the list and can see the value in choosing a different one each year. I will choose abundance for now and enjoy reading about “deserving” as well!

    Happy Birthday!

    Hi Caroline,
I have been following Christine Kane’s blog for some time – and I, too, am excited about the possibility of what one defining word can mean for me. Have I chosen a word yet? No. I’m planning to pick something by the end of the year, and then write about it.

Your word…deserving…I like it! And I’m looking forward to see how that manifests itself in your life over this coming year Caroline! I’m excited for you, and for what 2009 holds!

    Caroline,
I’m totally cheating off of another’s comment. It was your birthday yesterday?!? It was your birthday! Blessed days to you!

Now, I have to say, I have been thinking of my word all day. It’s been my “private time” while surrounded by children, friends of children, and neighbors. The snow and ice brings us so close.
I still, however, can not come up with one word. I’m totally into the search though!

    Hello Ms. Caroline!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I also feel it is good to take time away from everything we do. Then we can come back fresh with new things to share. But you always seem to have new things to share with us.

I love this word for the year idea, it is perfect. I never have been a resolution type gal. I just like to honor my truth in every moment. But this strikes me as powerful!

But first I have to tell you that I went through every post you have on this page, maybe 8 or 10. I enjoyed every one of them. Your photography and wisdom is touching. Thank you.

So back to the word…. a word came before i looked at the list. Then i looked at the list and two more popped out. Still the first word feels like it is mine for 2009: ‘grace’, with ’spirit’ as a back up. Funny that spirit popped out at me, as it is part of my business name.

Well they say it’s never too late so here goes….having faced death so many times in the last few years I am of course drawn to the word LEGACY. I have endeavored my whole life to help anyone, anytime, any place but then I have moved on and let go. It has occured to me that I cannot walk away from those I love, that in some strange way they need my influence and I find that I need their remembrance of me. Mostly I speak of my children but there are multitudes of people who’s lives I have touched in a major way, and I liked making that difference. My legacy will be one of sharing, caring and loving. Most of our memories are good and that suits me fine, now I will see to it that many more new memories will be held dear, and when I am gone, they will think of me and smile, perhaps laugh ( I am a deliciously wicked woman ) and be glad for our time together. It will all be good.
